As a hosted infrastructure provider, Call One offers a fully managed platform in which your servers and/or virtual desktops run in one of our designated Tier 1/2 data centers in a secure, redundant fashion. If you are concerned about disaster recovery (and who isn’t?) or simply want to extend your asset footprint beyond your own location, we can help.
What is IaaS?
Infrastructure as a Service, or IaaS cloud computing, means that a company outsources the equipment that supports operations, including servers, storage, memory, network bandwidth and virtual machines, to a provider. Cloud IaaS providers own the equipment and are responsible for housing, running and maintaining it. As a client, you have access to processing (computing), storage and network capabilities, and you are billed on a per-use basis.
The computing resource, or virtualized hardware, is distributed across numerous data centers, which are maintained by the cloud IaaS provider. IaaS providers deploy the service in a virtualized environment (the cloud), across a public connection (the Internet). IaaS is hosted in a private cloud, public cloud or hybrid cloud.
Why use IaaS?
IaaS allows you to create a cost-effective, easily scalable computing environment without the expenses and hassles associated with purchasing and managing the hardware.
Benefits of Hosted Infrastructure (IaaS):
- Elasticity and Scalability
Resources are purchased in any quantity at any time. This eliminates the delays and costs when expanding capacity, and conversely, eliminates wasted capacity during business contraction cycles.
- No Hardware Investment
You save time and money by not investing in or maintaining physical hardware. The infrastructure required to support IaaS is set up and maintained by the IaaS cloud provider.
- Cost Savings
Costs are based on demand, so you pay only for the resources you actually use. The IaaS provider determines the rate per type of service (for example, storage, computing or bandwidth) and bills according to utilization.
- Location Independence
IaaS makes it easy to work on the go. Service is accessed from virtually anywhere, at any time, as long as there is an Internet connection.
Because data is distributed across redundant servers, hosted information is protected in the event of a single point of hardware failure. Plus, automated backups ensure that server content stays safe and up-to-date.
Servers hosted within a data center benefit from a high level of physical security.
