The Call One Give Back Committee is an employee-run group that creates fundraising efforts for a charity of choice for each calendar year. The Give Back Committee hosts raffles, bake sales, and various other charitable efforts as an opportunity for employees to contribute monetarily to the specified organization. The committee also organizes volunteer efforts so employees may contribute time to the organization outside of operating hours. Call One matches all monetary contributions employees generate.

Additionally, the Give Back Committee has volunteered for multiple organizations throughout the years in an effort to contribute to charities not chosen as the “charity of the year”.  All monetary contributions go to the “charity of the year,” but the members of the Give Back Committee volunteer their time to many organizations that are close to our hearts.  Below is a brief list of charities to which we have volunteered our time:

Ronald McDonald House, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, SCARCE (Recycling and Composting Education), Illinois Dept. of Veterans’ Affairs, Park Lawn, United Way, WTTW, P.A.W.S.

Aunt Martha’s Youth Service (2011)

In 2011, the Give Back Committee focused on one of Call One’s long-standing clients, Aunt Martha’s Youth Service.“Everything Aunt Martha’s offers today – primary health and dental care, mental health counseling, child welfare, juvenile justice, prevention and youth development services – was in the minds of the founders when this organization began. A vision, 38 years ago, is today very much a reality,” notes Leofanti, the agency’s Founder and President.

Aunt Martha’s reaches more than 80,000 individual clients each year, and remains true to its founding vision: to respond to the needs of youth, families, and communities by providing access to the resources, knowledge, and services necessary to help them thrive.

The Supporters of Military (2010)

Call One employs veterans of the military and chose 2010 as the year to honor their service via the Give Back Committee. The Supporters of Military (S.O.M.) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military servicemen and women serving their country overseas.  Every three months, the organization sends care packages to military personnel overseas.

The Supporters of Military is led by volunteers from military families that want to bring the community together to support our servicemen and women who put their lives on the line to serve their country.

Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy (2009)

In 2009, the Give Back Committee chose Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy as the charity of choice. Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy, the largest and oldest organization of its type in the Chicago metropolitan area, is a volunteer organization committed to using the capabilities and magic of dogs in therapeutic environments, especially with children.

Rainbow was founded in 1987 with less than a dozen members/handlers. Today, Rainbow services the city of Chicago and the surrounding six-county metropolitan area. Rainbow currently operates over 75 programs, reaching more than 1,000 children per month.

All of Rainbow’s programs, in addition to developing and building essential skills, give the children a focus other than their disability or disease and provide a happy respite from the rigors and challenges of daily life.

Make-a-Wish Foundation of Illinois (2008)

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

In 2008, the Give Back Committee pointed its efforts towards the Illinois chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation and successfully provided Maria with her wish.

Our contribution helped an intelligent and sweet 18-year-old girl named Maria who was diagnosed with clear cell carcinoma to enjoy a day of shopping.  She said, "My brothers are always on the computer and I have to wait for them to get off before I can use it."  With the help of Call One and Make-A-Wish, Maria was able to pick out her own laptop computer and a pink digital camera with accessories.  It was a day of joy when she walked away with the computer gadgets of her dreams and great memories. Maria was able to experience her wish come true!

Call One is proud of its Give Back Committee. It is our honor and privilege to help others, and we look forward to continuing this tradition.
